"This shot was taken immediately after getting a request from Brooke (the bride) for one our somewhat signature sexy shots. She had seen a shot in our studio of a bride's dress being pulled up by the groom's hand running up her leg and wanted something similar. Of course getting a sexy shot that's convincing is easier said than done and isn't for every client. The first thing we decided to do was take Brooke & Jerrod to an area where they could be alone; which was on the far right side of the venue. I would never suggest trying to set up a sexier/intimate shot unless there is a private place to make the client comfortable; unless your clients are the voyeuristic type! lol. This inlet was the perfect spot to place them because the light was moody and dramatic all by natural means. Once we had the spot chosen we basically just gave them some general direction and let them do the rest. This approach always seems to work best versus positioning or staging the entire shot. As long as your client is comfortable around you initially and you don't give them the impression that they are set in stone, they won't mind getting a little more touchy-feely. The extra movement keeps them from looking stiff and if you encourage them along the way by reminding them how amazing they look together they'll keep it up more than long enough to get the shot. Prompting and interaction with your client is such a huge element because without that comfort level the shot is just 2 people pretending to gravitate to each other because their photographer said so. Brooke & Jerrod however really did get lost in this moment and we practically had to pull them apart so they wouldn't miss the reception!"

:e: Photography | Photo of the Month for December

Congratulations to Eric Laurits of :e: Photography for his December's Photography of the Month. "Many of my brides opt to donate their dresses to the Brides Against
Breast Cancer foundation. For those that do, we go out and about for a
day shooting some really cool bridals in their dress. This isn't mom's
wedding photography. On this particular day, Angela and I were
traveling around Denver, CO and snapping some really great images. It
was later in the day when we happened upon a old boxcar on a railroad
track. As we parked the car and headed towards the tracks, the wind
began to blow furiously and I quickly snapped off a few frames. I shot
it with the Canon 5D and the 85mm f/1.2L... I'm thinking I shot it wide
open at 1.2 and around 1/8000. I opened up the image in Photoshop and
selectively applied 11 different textures to it - most of which I shot
that day in Denver. There is something so free about being in love,
isn't there? You can see more of Eric's photos at www.ericlaurits.com. Wedding Vendors Directory
